Tournament knockout round 3 - 03/04/08 - Merlin
Dustbowl
TFT - 5
|S| - 3
Well
TFT - 2
|S| - 0
During the original match we had a 1-0 lead in Dustbowl and had them stopped on Map 3 Point 2 when the server crashed. We all regrouped and tried to recreate the same situation but knowing our strategy and getting a lucky crit shot (b4 the whistle) allowed them to cap and the score became tied 1-1. TFT took the lead 3-2 and when we were about to score on defense with 1 minute remaining the server crashed again... Leading many of us to believe fowl play was involved.
Upon mentioning the coincidence their players started a massive revolt which resulted in my reputation on WoC being shredded.
The match was replayed. While on offense, in Map 3, Point 2, with the score tied 0-0 one of our players was disconnected from the game. Needless to say, we failed to cap and fell to a 0-1 record. In the following map on defense and 2nd player was disconnected from the game, and then a few minutes later, everyone was disconnected from XBox Live. It was odd, but against TFT I guess you have to expect the unexpected.
We all regrouped in the lobby again and decided to start with TFT leading 1-0, restarting our defense. We then tried our luck on TFT Refuels server. TFT did well to cap on us, we were not able to execute our defenses as well as we would have liked.
Since Refuels server was a bit laggy we suggested we play the 2nd map (Well) on our server. At the start of the match, one of their players jumped over the train. When we all went to look for proof, we kind of missed the start of the match and lost the high ground, the timing of our strat and then the deathmatch that insued.
Upon one of our players first respawn he got stuck in the floor. Nothing he could do would change his status so he had to leave the game, no subs were available and we played until OT with a man down and finally lost the 1st point. Our player returned during the middle of the round 2 but already playing on our heels it was too little to late.
Ultimately, I must say that the events of the TFT match were strange but I have no reason to believe they were delibrately cheating at all. I think we may have falled victim to coincidence and unlucky isp issues.
Hopefully the next time we meet them we will be able to play at full strength. |
